What do you think? Do you think that Poker is a sport? Do you think it has a place in the world of sports? I know it involves less exercise, but people define sport in different ways so would you describe Poker as a sport?

I donīt know, i already have problem regarding chess as a sport. In my opinion you canīt really get that good in poker, itīs more about luck thatīs why i would not say itīs a sport. Itīs just entertainment such as music is.
Well people think that computer games are a sport, as you need to display a certain level of skill, you can train for them and you get better over time. As for calling poker a sport I don't know, probably not. It's a game of skill and chance.

Basically poker is a recreational game which is played in between two players rather than being played between a player and a machine. Sports involve physical activity but in games like poker it’s not like that. So we can't call it a “sport”.

the simple answer is YES
you compete
its not athlethic, but neither is monopoly and thats considered a sport now
its a mind sport, there is a crowd in France lobbying the olympic committee to have it identified as a sport and make it an olympic gold medallist game
lots of people who used to compete at sports, but for whstever reason cannot continue in their chosen sport, move to poker, coz you dont have to be of a certain age or fitness to play
