Playing Poker Tips

So I'm new to playing poker, in fact I used to play 21 before, so now I've really progressed. ;) So I am wondering about good starting point to learn poker, to train my analytical skills and to become a successful poker player.
I did buy a few books, but I think I should really get my hands dirty and get game experience, but there isn't a lot happening here in Carlow, as far as I can see.

Right now I am reading Every Hand Revealed by Gus Hansen, which is a great fly on the wall account on how Gus prepares for things.

I bought The Theory of Poker: A Professional Poker Player Teaches You How to Think Like One by David Sklansky , back at Christmas but haven't had a chance to read it. It comes highly recommended. Sklansky is a pretty famous player have a read on wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sklansky

As for getting a start at poker you could practise live games with some friends, or put up an ad in the local shop or something. Say you want to start an informal regular poker league, with up to 8-10members. Then organise it so that you play a tournament style ever two weeks in each others houses. I'm sure there has to be 10 poker players in Carlow. As with all things not everyone will be able to make every game so 6-8 players will give you decent enough practise.

Can anyone recommend some Irish related poker blogs ?
